Charlamagne Farts On Taylor Swift's Bland Cover Of 'September'

Charlamagne gives pop sensation Taylor Swift the title of Donkey Of The Day on Monday, April 16th, for giving us the most basic, gluten-free, mayonnaise infused cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's classic song "September." We can't deny that Taylor Swift has some jams - her album 1989 was dope, "Shake It Off" is still fire and we have never had any big problems with her music. But when she took one of the most iconic songs from the legendary Earth, Wind & Fire and stripped it of all its soul, that's where we have an issue. No one, under any circumstance, should touch that song.

She jumped out the window with her unseasoned cover of "September." Swift gave us the most basic, gluten-free version of the song, and even has a banjo on her version. The audacity! For her to take the funk out of an Earth, Wind & Fire track shows how much respect she has for the song. Her cover is like a zombified version of the song - no soul.

Covering any song is difficult but it seems the hatred towards her version of "September" is unanimous. There is one unexpected fan of the song - the song's co-writer, Allee Willis.

"'September' was my first hit and favorite song of mine I ever have had the joy of being a part of," Willis said to Billboard. "Taylor Swift is the absolute cherry on top of a very soulful and happy sundae." Well, the court of public opinion rules out Willis' take on Taylor's cover. Sorry, Allee.
