6ix9ine Explains Why He Loves Being The Most Hated

6ix9ine Tekashi Breakfast Club Interview

6ix9ine is the self-proclaimed "most hated" in the game and he's loving it. Despite displaying behavior that has landed him in legal trouble and potential physical harm, 21-year-old Brooklyn rapper has found himself a dedicated fanbase and his most recent release, DAY69, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album charts. 6ix9ine has also made a name for himself for his antics on and off social media, antagonizing known LA gang members, and beefing with The Game and YG. With all this success, why does he crave all the drama and negative attention? The self-described "troll" stopped by The Breakfast Club to explain why he thinks he's the hottest artist in New York, his recent issues with J Prince Jr, how he switched gang affiliations from Crip to Blood, what really happened when he pleaded guilty to the use of a child in a sexual performance, and why he loves being the most hated figure in the music industry.

After a brief back and forth about why he considers himself the King of NY, 6ix9ine broke down why he didn't perform at his show at the World Star concert SXSW after J Prince Jr showed up. He explained that it was a setup and that he was worried about his own safety. 6ix9ine blamed security and concert promoters for not taking J Prince Jr offstage. "How am I supposed to give your venue and your crowd a good performance while I'm supposed looking over my back while performing," he explained. "I’m not about to get World Star’ed on a World Star stage.”

He continues: “There’s grown ass men marching the streets looking for me. That shit drives me, I got these n***as missing work, they not taking care of they kids. Them n****s marching the streets looking for a kid with rainbow hair. How stupid could you look?”

They also discussed why he pleaded guilty of using a child in a sexual performance when he was 18 years old, a horrifying accusation that has somehow not affected his success. He maintains that he was a young kid who made a horrible decision but accuses the media of portraying him as a monster. “This is how nasty the media is. This is how nasty they are and try to paint a picture and violate. This is what the system does to youth. I’m an 18-year-old kid with my life in front of me. Now that I rap and I’m somebody when these charges come up, it’s like “Oh my god, he’s a monster.”

He adds: But paint it to where the kid is a kid at the end of the day and got caught up in some s**t. When people comment under my sh** (on social media) “pedophile” and all that shit, I’m so numb to it because I know what I am and who I am.” “Say, I would understand if I was his age (pointing to Charlamagne) and got this charge and it looked disturbing but the media don’t see it as, “this kid got caught up in some sh**.”

“How many people get caught up in some shit where a girl lie about her age. There was no sexual intercourse between me and the female at all. I just got arrested for being in the situation." He continued, "I plead guilty this quick (snaps fingers), I was scared. I had no money, I was poor, I wasn’t rapping.”

Going back and forth with Charlamagne, Envy, and Angela Yee about why he brings so much violence and negative energy around him, 6ix9ine explained that being a troll and an outsider has been the key to his success.

“I’m showing the industry..all that fake gangsta sh**t? Cut it out, blood. Look how stupid I look right now? I got a big ass 69 on my face, right? With rainbow hair and I’m literally sitting here talking to you about all these people who want to beef with me and all these people calling me out. How stupid do they look? I’m literally the one getting under their skin and taking them out of character. Gangstas don't say what they going to do. They just do it.”

To wrap up this tense interview, Charlamagne brought in a pastor to pray for 6ix9ine. Watch it all go down below:
