During a candid conversation with Angie Martinez, the Bronx rapper revealed that her long-awaited album is essentially finished. Remy is currently adding the final touches and hopes to release the project soon enough to qualify for Grammy consideration.She expressed complete confidence in the new music, describing it as some of her strongest work and promising that fans will be “very happy” with the finished product. Remy has recorded so much material that she may already have enough music for multiple projects.
Although her lyrical confidence never disappeared, Remy admitted that she stepped away from music at different points because she stopped enjoying the business surrounding it. The pressure of social media, industry politics and everything unrelated to creating music began to take away from her passion.Now, she appears energized and focused again.
Remy made it clear that her competitive edge is still intact, confidently declaring that while other artists may be as good as she is, “nobody is better.” She still approaches every guest verse and collaboration with the intention of dominating the record.When the right beat connects, Remy says she enters a “flow state” where the lyrics arrive naturally and quickly. If another rapper claims to be better, she joked that she is always prepared to check the statement and demand proof.
Remy and Angie also reflected on what feels like a renewed era for New York Hip-Hop. With artists including Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Fabolous and Jim Jones enjoying increased visibility, Remy compared the current energy to the mid-2000s, saying that 2026 feels a little like 2006 all over again. Music is not her only focus. Remy is interested in pursuing more opportunities in movies, television and talk shows. While rapping comes naturally to her, acting still makes her nervous, which is exactly why she finds it exciting. She enjoys challenging herself in spaces where she has not already mastered the craft.
The conversation also became personal as Remy confirmed that she is single after spending nearly 20 years in the same relationship. She described this new chapter as her “soft girl era,” a time centered on self-care, prioritizing herself and allowing other people to show up for her.Remy acknowledged that she is still learning how to navigate dating and is not rushing into another relationship. However, she did reveal that UK rapper Skepta is one of her celebrity crushes.
She also opened up about health and wellness, joking that her current diet consists largely of popcorn, cucumbers and ice. Remy clarified that she does eat regular meals, just in smaller portions. After trying more extreme approaches in the past, she has learned that moderation and portion control work best for her.
