Amara La Negra Talks New Music, Afro-Latinas + Confidence

'Love & Hip Hop Miami' star and singer Amara La Negra pulled up to the Angie Martinez show to promote her new single 'Insecure' and of course the two had to get into their mutual love for the late and GREAT Celia Cruz, the lack of representation of Afro-Latinas in the industry and how Amara has always had the same happy and explosive personality since she was a child.

They also touch on how Amara ended up on the popular Latin television show Sabado Gigante at just 4-years-old, returning back to the Dominican Republic as an adult where scored her first hit and how they're still people out in the world who do not know that there are black Latin people.

Where does Amara get all her self confidence from? Amara attributes it all to her mom who she says is the one who encourages her to show off her body and even sews her costumes even tighter + she tells Angie how she managed to get in shape after being depressed and weighing 230lbs at 13-14 years old.
