Drake fans are clowning his new look.
Champagne Papi rang in 2021 with an unrecognizable haircut, evoking his “Big #Mood” with a new ‘do reminiscent of his fellow Canadian Justin Bieber. The rapper shared — then quickly deleted — the snapshot on his Instagram Stories, but not before fans could screenshot the photo for meme material.
The picture in question shows the 34-year-old rocking a swoop bang with his signature heart-shaped design buzzed just above his hairline. More likely than not, the photo is the work of an Instagram filter — but that didn’t dissuade Drizzy’s followers from roasting him.
“Drake couldn't be Justin Bieber in the popstar video so instead he got his haircut,” one user tweeted.
Someone else quipped, “drake’s haircut already ruined 2021.”
Another user joked, “Something about Drake’s haircut is giving me very much Nene Leakes…”
It’s possible Drake’s new antic is all just part of the promotion for his upcoming album, Certified Lover Boy, dropping this month on January 15. He made the announcement with a special trailer on his 34th birthday in October 2020, breaking the news with a visual walk down memory lane to his previous albums including So Far Gone, Take Care, Nothing Was The Same, and last year's Dark Lanes Demo Tapes.
In addition, Drizzy also teased what appeared to be lyrics from one of the album's records, which reads: “Can’t love someone more than they love themselves/ Can’t respect someone more than they respect themselves/ And def can’t want more for someone than they want for themselves/ That’s all self work.”
