Mary J. Blige has landed herself a role in the highly anticipated Respect movie, a biopic about the late and legendary Aretha Franklin.
According to HipHopDX, Blige will play Dinah Washington, a popular jazz singer during the fifties. This role will be added to Blige's record keeping movie list. Mary being an Grammy-award winning artist has been recognized for her many talents, acting included, with two Academy Award nominations and three Golden Globe nominations.
Blige will act alongside fellow singer Jennifer Hudson who scored the lead as Aretha Franklin. Other notable actors join the cast including Marlon Wayans and Forest Whitaker.
The film is set to hit theater's next August.
