Kanye West Remembers His Mother On David Letterman's Netflix Show

2019 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival - Weekend 2 - Day 3

Kanye West recently sat down with talk show legend David Letterman on his Netflix special My Next Guest Needs No Introduction to discuss music, his battle with bi-polar disorder and of course his controversial support of President Donald Trump.

The news came from his wife Kim Kardashian who tweeted a clip of the upcoming episode. “Kanye opens up to David Letterman like you’ve never seen him on My Next Guest, streaming on @Netflix May 31,” she tweeted.

Ye is known to be verbal on topics ranging from politics, spirituality, music and more. However, when it comes to discussing the passing of his late mother Donda West, who died during plastic surgery in 2007, the Life of Pablo rapper is seemingly private on that sensitive subject.

As his wife watches from the audience, Ye surprisingly gives a heartfelt answer when asked about the memory of his mother.

"This would have been the funnest time of her life, to have those kids running around that house,” Ye says to Letterman.

With a smile on his face, he continues to remember one of his last moments with his mother.

“I remember my mother bought me a bear that was multicolored, and I was very into [Japanese contemporary artist] Takashi Murakami at that time on that third album, Graduation,” West recalls. “She said it kind of, you know, feels like Takashi Murakami. And then I was sort of like, ‘I don’t want that, that ain’t no Takashi Murakami bear, and stuff like that.
“And then she passed…a few weeks after,” he continues, “and I did everything I could to find that bear and place that bear on top of all the Takashi Murakami stuff I had in the house.”

Make sure you check out the premiere for Season 2 of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction on Netflix May 31.
