Why Uptown NYC Businesses Keep Getting Shut Down

Uptown New York City businesses keep getting shut down and La Marina owner, Fernando Mateo, says he knows exactly who and what is to blame. It appears to be a combination of politicians not caring about minority owned businesses, the targeting of uptown with the objective of gentrifying it even further and Latinos needing to up the level of organization, revolting and pushing back.

Honey German sat down with Mateo for an explosive interview during which they get into issues the Latino community is facing including: the gentrification of our neighborhoods, the targeting and closure of Latino owned businesses, the need for more representation/participation when it comes to community issues and pushing back against oppression and discrimination.

Mateo also talks about his social activism work, politicians he's supported turning their backs on him and the possibility of him running for Mayor of New York City.
