Bronx College Student Falls 40 Feet To Her Death

A Bronx student, 22, tripped and fell 40 feet to her death from Fordham University's clock tower at 3am after she “wanted a better view of NYC for Instagram says a fellow student.

She fell through an opening in a landing of the tower`s staircase and tumbled down the inside of the structure, an FDNY source said. she had to be removed through a window because the spiral staircase inside the tower was too narrow for the stretcher. She was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in serious condition but died later Sunday.

The school has announced that the student who was set to graduate in just weeks will receive a posthumous degree: "There are no words sufficient to describe the loss of someone so young and full of promise—and mere weeks from graduation. Fordham will confer a bachelor’s degree upon Sydney posthumously, which we will present to her parents at the appropriate time."

Sydney Monfries was a photo intern at InStyle Magazine, and was studying journalism at Fordham University. RIP!
