Black people will not be left out of the podcasting boom if people like Angel N. Livas have anything to say about it.
Livas founded the ALIVE Podcast Network earlier this year. She tells Gabe Pabon at the Powerhouse NYC Interview Lounge Powered By Hennessy and Valentino that through her career in broadcasting, she realized that Black people who were given platforms weren't always in control of their intellectual property.
"A lot of times it was being dictated how they could express themselves, when they could express themselves, and at any point if they were booted off, nobody cared how it impacted the community," she says. "So ALIVE was created to have a different voice, a different tone where we're helping Black people monetize their content, as well as gain that ownership."
