The legendary Babyface stopped by The Angie Martinez Show to talk all things related to his recent “comeback.” The singer, writer and producer is best known for his musical works, including projects with TLC, Michael Jackson, Toni Barxton, Whitney Houston and more—many of which came about after he cofounded LaFace Records with Antonio "L.A." Reid in 1989.
He walked Angie Martinez through the visualization of his new album, “Girls Night Out.” He points out that the project was inspired by his partner’s ideas, which paint a club scene where Babyface is the bartender who is collecting all the girls’ tea.
Babyface expressed to Angie that it is meaningful for him to not come off as a creepy uncle through this project. He also expressed his passion to highlight both new and female artists.
He then spoke about his Verzuz battle-experience. He explained how Andre Harrell was the convincing mastermind behind Babyface’s attendance. He also shared what it felt like performing the event, desires regarding his impact and more.
When Angie asked about Quincy Jones’ influence on him, he exclaimed his admiration for Quincy’s influence. That’s when he discusses similar qualities Quincy and Michael Jackson had in terms of both personality and work ethic.
