Ron Suno On Soulja Boy’s Influence, Bronx Drill, Upcoming “Jokes Up” Album

For the first time since before the pandemic we had the one and only Ron Suno join On The Radar today! The rapper who dropped his “Swag Like Mike” EP in June last year has had quite the year. After signing a deal with Empire he is currently gearing up to release his new album with singles like “YA MANS” & “Winners” Featuring Sheff G leading into it. Sitting down with On The Radar he spoke about all the new music as well as slowing down on the Instagram skits, starting to get more into his serious acting bag, why he looks up to Soulja Boy, the new wave of Drill in the Bronx + more!

Ron is getting deep into his acting bag, explaining that he’s been taking lessons and wants to take it seriously as another part of his career. Most recently starring alongside Brooklyn rapper Rah Swish in “JUICE”, expressing this is just the beginning of what he plans to give the people going forward in his acting career.

“S/o to Rah Swish we got a new short film called “JUICE” this has like a twist to it, we added our Sauce to it, its basically a little story from Brooklyn, with robberies, you know hood stories and its featuring me, it's just showing my acting side and showing people what I’m doing next”

One of the biggest inspirations for Ron when it came to his early years in the social media game was none other than Soulja Boy. Ron explained to us how he relates to the rapper a lot because of how he’s misunderstood and how he had trail-blazed trends in the game that no one properly gave him his credit for.

“I f—with Soulja Boy because he really reminds me of me like I really create s---, he really set trends that’s why I respect him like if you see what I did before that’s the man I used to look up to. I feel like a lot of people don’t understand him, like that’s how I feel, like im funny but I really deal with s—t and that how I be feeling”

As for the music Ron, is gearing up his new and first project under Empire “Jokes Up” in which fans will get to see him jump out of his drill bag and try some new styles out. He also teased upcoming records with Fetty Wap, Coi Leray and Tory Lanez as possible features on it.

“This is a project I don’t get a set name for it, it's not an EP it got 12 songs we just going to call it a project like jokes up, there’s no more playing around, more money more success. I want people to take away from this project to be yourself, in life you go through different stages of yourself but no matter what you go through your still yourself, stay humble, stay focused, when you listen to my music you're going to see where im coming from”
