Walmart CEO Reveals Americans Have Gone Into Hairstylist Mode

Walmart CEO Doug McMillon told TODAY Show that American consumers buying patterns have shifted from week to week with the first week of quarantine showing people buying cleaning products, soaps and sanitizer.

During the second week it was toilet paper, the third and fourth week consumers settled in, turning their focus to doing things with kids at home and buying puzzles + spiral hams to cook at home.

The fifth week proved that Americans were in desperate need of some grooming more specifically haircutting and hair coloring products.

Sales of hair clippers increased 166% and hair coloring products rose 23%, from the same period a year earlier, according to Nielsen. Americans have become do-it-yourself barbers and stylists as hair salons across the nation have temporarily shuttered to maintain social distancing measures.
