Diddy No Longer Interested In Being an NFL Owner

Last year, Diddy surprised everyone by announcing on twitter that he wanted to purchase an NFL team. He wrote:

Interestingly enough, Diddy no longer wants to take part in the NFL franchise. He would have been the first ever African-American NFL team owner. However, after the league’s recent ruling for players to stand for the national anthem, it looks like he won’t be buying the Carolina Panthers after all. In his latest interview with Real 92.3 LA’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood he detailed, “This last move… I don’t even want to own an NFL team no more… I was one of the two last bids for the Panthers. Man, I really wanted to go in there and be a part of the NFL and try to be a positive change.”

Diddy expressed that he just isn’t interested in being apart of an organization that oppresses black men. “I don’t want to be associated with oppressing black men,” he said. “I don’t want to be associated with telling grown a** men what they can do and cannot do.”

He added, “I’m just at a point where my feelings are hurt because I’m such an NFL fan. And I hope they do what they have to do to fix it. And I hope that they re-engage my dream to want to do that, because if not, I don’t want to be associated, to be around a table that does that to people at all.”

In all, Diddy still suggests that if things do change within the NFL, he might reconsider following through with that deal. He continued, “To all my brother that are out there, I got y’all back. My feelings are hurt. Because I’m such an NFL fan, and I hope they do what they have to do to fix it, and I hope they re-engage my dream to want to do that.”
