Lupita Nyoung'o gives inspiring speech for the "Dreamers"

Last night (March 4), actors Lupita Nyong’o and Kumail Nanjiani gave a powerful and moving speech at the 90th annual Oscars that paid tribute to the 800,000 'Dreamers' fearing deportation. This speech also referenced the pair’s immigration status.

They started off their speech with the casual joke of the complexity of their names followed by where they are from. Towards the end of the speech, they began speaking on what it means to be a dreamer in support of those Dreamers that are currently fighting to avoid deportation.

“Like everyone in this room and everyone watching at home, we are dreamers. We grew up dreaming of one day working in the movies. Dreams are the foundation of Hollywood, and dreams are the foundation of America” said Lupita.
