Swagger Rite On “Detour” Album, Working W/ Roy Woods, Having His Own Mural

One of the hottest young artists out of Canada right now is undeniably Swagger Rite. The young star who is fresh off of the release of his Detour album recently sat down with On The Radar to talk about the project, his collabs, having a mural in his city, and explain what Weston Road is to all of us over here who have been wondering why Canadian rappers are always bringing it up!

When it came to the project, Swagger had one simple, yet effective theme in mind. With having such a diverse background in music the rapper wanted the name of the project to reflect all of the different areas he would be touching on it.

“the project when you go on a detour you touch so many different places, so with the music im just going to a whole lot of different genres in the music game so you have the detour”

With the project touching so many genres, one thing for Swagger that he personally wanted to accomplish was showing fans that he could step outside of the box he has been put in as a known trap rapper. Showing his diversity on records such as “Drugs & love” the rapper definitely was able to shake the table and the way his fans now look at him!

“How I came about in this rap game, I started off in the trap music, so a lot of people know me for the street and trap music, so I wanted to break the stereotype because a lot of people will put you in that category of your just another trap rapper, you know I’m a lot different I’m actually a musician, I do music based off of all the music I used to listen to rap, pop, jazz, etc. I just wanted to show the world that side of me I want them to know I can do more than just trap. So that’s what I did with that as you can see”
