Alicia Keys Discusses Details Behind Her New Book, "More Myself: A Journey"

Last Friday (April 10th) iHeart hosted their first ever virtual book club with none other than Angie Martinez and Alicia Keys the two spoke about the making of the book as well as some of the hurdles the singer had to face while making it.

Some notable quotes include:

"This is something that I'm proud of. It's taken some many people to take me to so many different places. I want to honor them as well."
"I'm so grateful that she was strong like that and didn't cave in...I guess she knew this was something special for me...I'm grateful." - Alicia on her mom not letting her quit playing the piano as a young girl
"I feel vulnerable all the time...right before I was going to perform for Kobe & Vanessa, I was completely raw and vulnerable. I don't know how she was even up there at all."
"I think that a lot of times we stop what we might do because we don't think that we'll do it well...the two piano Grammys I was terrified...in rehearsal I wasn't pulling it off...I'm grateful that I didn't quit on myself."

"MoreMyself is part autobiography, part narrative documentary. Alicia’s journey is revealed not only through her own candid recounting, but also through vivid recollections from those who have walked alongside her. The result is a 360-degree perspective on Alicia’s path, from her girlhood in Hell’s Kitchen and Harlem to the process of growth and self-discovery that we all must navigate."
