Jay Z Reaches Billboard Hot 100

Jay-Z is unstoppable! He has made history yet again being the 6th artist to have 100 career solo appearances on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, according to billboard.

His song “Mood 4 Eva,” from The Lion King: The Gift album reached no. 90 on the most recent Hot 100, after it debuted getting him to breaking this record. The track features Beyonce and Oumou Sangare as well.

Jay has had four songs reach no.1:

  1. “Heartbreaker” Mariah Carey’s 1999’s single, two weeks
  2. Beyonce’s 2003 track “Crazy in Love”stayed on the charts for 8 weeks
  3. The 2007 hit “Umbrella” by Rihanna lasted 7 weeks
  4. Lastly “Empire State of Mind” with Alicia Keys that came out in 2009 with a run of five weeks

This isn’t only an amazing moment, but for his daughter Blue Ivy Carter who earned her first Billboard entry this week for the debut of “Brown Skin Girl” landing at No. 76 on the Hot 100 Chart.

The other five who have reached this goal of 100 top 100 singles consist of three rappers being all Young Money signed. Drake leading with 196 chart appearances, Lil Wayne has 163, and Nicki Minaj has charted 103 times. The other two are the Glee Cast with 207 and Elvis Presley with 103.
