Al Roker Defends NY Meteorologist Fired Over Racial Slur

A TV meteorologist from Rochester, New York, says he was unfairly fired for making a flub on live TV.

Jeremy Kappell said he got tongue-tied during a broadcast Sunday morning and uttered what sounded like an offensive slur to African-Americans and viewers were stunned and took to social media to vent their outrage: “This guy needs to be fired,” was one tweet.  “Wow. Call the station. This should be addressed,” said another.

"I think @JeremyKappell made an unfortunate flub and should be given the chance to apologize on @news10nbc Anyone who has done live tv and screwed up (google any number of ones I've done) understands," Roker tweeted Wednesday.
