With marijuana now legalized to various degrees in several states, including Washington and Colorado, the impetus for its availability in New York state is growing.
According to a Quinnipiac University poll released on Monday, an overwhelming amount of New Yorkers support legalization. Specifically, 88% of New Yorkers support medical marijuana with only 9% against it. A whopping 57% of state voters favor legalization of small amounts of recreational marijuana with 39% still against unabashed use.
Still, the biggest gap between opinions was upheld by sexes. More men -63% - supported recreational legalization, while only 51% of women claimed they were alright with unhindered legalization. The study further determined that younger voters were more likely to support legalization as well.
