UPDATE: Frankie Dabbs, a 20-year-old homeless woman, has been arrested for leaving her child abandoned on a subway platform on Monday.

Dabbs is facing charges of abandoning a child and acting in an injurious manner to a child under the age of 17.

Police have apprehended a woman who allegedly abandoned a baby at a Columbus Circle subway station.  The 20 year old mother was taken into custody early this morning and is now being questioned by police.

A witness saw the woman push a baby stroller off a northbound number one subway train onto the platform around noon yesterday.  The woman then got back on the train, leaving the little girl behind.

The witness stayed with the child, believing the woman would return.  She never did and the witness called police.

The little girl was taken to Roosevelt Hospital and is said to be in good condition.  She’s now in the custody of Children’s Services.

No charges have been announced.
