The New York Giants fell to 0-6 on the season last night, losing to the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football. If that wasn't bad enough, Eli Manning's sloppy play continues to frustrate Giants fans. Manning threw three more interceptions last night, giving him 15 interceptions on the season so far!
Would the Giants dare bench Manning, the same quarterback who led the Giants to two Super Bowl wins? On the season Manning has nine touchdown passes and 15 interceptions and has been sacked 16 times. Manning has a 53.7 completion percentage and has passed for 1,721 yards.
One issue with benching Manning is that it's not like the Giants have any glowing young prospects backing Manning up. 28-year-old Curtis Painter is currently Manning's backup. You may remember Painter as the guy who backed up Eli's brother Peyton Manning in Indianapolis. On his career, Painter has thrown six touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and has a 51.6 completion percentage. Ryan Nassib, a rookie who was chosen in the fourth round, is the Giants third string quarterback.
So do you think the Giants should bench Manning?
