New York City public schools are open on Thursday, despite another snow storm.

A winter storm warning is in effect through 6 a.m. on Friday.  New York City is expected to receive 5 to 8 inches of snow.  Areas north and west could get closer to a foot of snow.

The snow will change over to rain today, before switching back to snow late tonight.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has declared a state of emergency and many schools outside New York City are closed today.
