New York City mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio was arrested on Wednesday after participating in a protest against the closure of Brooklyn's Long Island College Hospital. The New York Daily News reports that de Blasio and Councilman Steve Levin were among a number of protestors taken away in a police van after they refused to stop blocking an entrance of the State University of New York's Midtown headquarters.

According to the Daily News report, it's believed that about 15 protestors were arrested. The Long Island College Hospital is deep in debt and has reportedly refused to accept ambulances into its emergency rooms.

According to the Daily News, fellow mayoral candidates John Liu and Anthony Weiner were also at the protests, but were not arrested because they didn't block the entrance.
