The family of Joan Rivers says the 81 year old comedian is “resting comfortably” after she was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital on Thursday.
Rivers was undergoing a procedure on her vocal cords on East 93rd Street when she reportedly had trouble breathing and went into cardiac arrest.
The Daily News reports Rivers is in a medically induced coma. A source said Rivers had struggled with vocal problems for the past year and went yesterday for a diagnosis.
Her daughter Melissa Rivers arrived at the hospital last night.
“I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother,” she said in a statement.
She asked that people continue to keep her mother in their thoughts and prayers.
