Fruitland American Meat in Missouri has recalled 4,012 pounds of beef product sent to the New York City area because the meat is speculated to contain mad cow disease.

The beef products could potentially contain parts of the cows' nervous system that are carrying mad cow disease. This disease causes death in cows and can also cause a deadly brain disease in humans who consume the meat.

The meat that is being recalled has been sent to a Whole Foods distribution center in Connecticut and an unnamed restaurant in New York City.
