Chauncey Mahan worked with Jay Z from 1998-2002 at his Roc-A-Fella recording studio where the music was mastered. Fast-forward a few years and Jay Z couldn’t find his recordings from 2002 and he thought they were lost. This would have been a closed case if cops didn’t find the 2002 recordings found in a California facility that Chauncey had in his possession. These recordings are worth $15-20 million dollars so this is a big deal!

Chauncey was going to force Roc Nation to give him $75k or he’d give the mastered music up for auction. He wasn’t arrested when LAPD nabbed him but Jay Z’s people filed a “grand larceny complaint” with the NYPD. Investigation continues.
